It's been 10 years since we started doing this. The official citymovies.com domain wasn't launched until Jan 1999 but I've been posting showtimes for Winnipeg theatres every Friday now for 10 years. Thanks to all those that have stopped by over the years, I appreciate the support.

The idea behind citymovies.com began in June of 1998. It started out with the simple concept of a web page that listed theatres in Winnipeg, the movies that were playing and the show times for each movie. This text only page, which is simple and fast, still exists today and is still the basic concept behind citymovies.com.
In October of 1998, the idea of transforming the simple page into a database driven, dynamic site with more content and functionality was formed.
On January 1, 1999, citymovies.com was officially launched on the Internet.

Currently our showtimes are obtained through either the newspaper listings or by telephone to the theatres voicemail. Movie information is obtained through the IMDB website or the official website of the movie. Movie posters have been obtained with permission from The Nostalgia Factory.
